Lawyers doing their own marketing?
I’ve worked with enough lawyers to know that no one starts or joins a law firm because they want to focus on marketing. Luckily, this is something I enjoy, so I started a marketing firm that focuses on lawyers. I believe that law firms of all sizes can benefit from working with a senior level marketing executive, but not all firms have the need or resources to hire one full time. That’s why I started CMO2Go.
Wouldn't you rather focus on your clients?
I take on the marketing work so your attorneys can focus on their clients. For more than 20 years, I built and rebuilt marketing departments, created and directed teams and managed projects from inception to completion for Am Law 100 and 200 firms in New York and Washington, D.C. I was able to hone my skills at law firms like Sidley, Kaye Scholer and Arent Fox, in every position from assistant to head of the department. Now I’m putting my experience to work for small and mid-size firms including:
In other words, I play well with pretty much anyone.
- Rebranding an almost 50-year old firm with a new name and new look, while showing clients and the community that the expertise and service they rely on hadn’t changed.
- Creating flexible marketing collateral for an almost five-year old firm without breaking the bank (no, you don’t need a 20-page glossy brochure).
- Serving as a supervisor and guide to firms’ in-house marketers, helping them execute on the firm’s priorities and pulling together outsourced teams when needed.
In other words, I play well with pretty much anyone.
Real help (with a side of cookies)
My clients have described me as their execution guru and point to my resourcefulness and reliability (no small thing in a world of unreturned calls and emails). I’m known among my colleagues for my “glass is always full” outlook (I even had that etched on pint glasses for my senior management team when I left Sidley). My kids and their friends know me for my “very specific” laugh and my amazingly delicious cookies (maybe I’ll bake you some).
I earned my BA in History from The George Washington University. Then I realized I couldn’t do much with a history degree, so I went back to GW at night and got my MBA. After years as a city dweller in DC and NYC, I now live along the winding roads of Westchester County, NY with my family and our pandemic parakeet. When I’m not talking about law firm marketing (and I do talk about it with anyone who’s interested), I love to get lost in a good book (bonus points if you know Thursday Next), come up with a new cookie recipe or exercise to work off the cookies. And yes, they’re worth the calories.
